The Battery is the basic components or the power source for any type of electronic instruments. A battery contains power already in it which can be used in the electronic equipments making it function. There are basically two type of battery- rechargeable and non rechargeable battery. In the two types rechargeable battery is more reliable when compared to the non rechargeable battery. Even though the rechargeable batteries are costly when compared to the non rechargeable batteries the money doesn’t go waste. These batteries give long life.
Lithium-Ion has become the new standard for portable power in consumer devices. Li-Ion batteries produce the same energy as NiMH battery but weighs approximately 20%-35% less. This is can make a noticeable difference in devices such as cellular phones, camcorders or notebook computers where the battery makes up a significant portion of the total weight. Another reason Li-Ion batteries have become so popular is that they do not suffer from the “memory effect” at all. They are also environmentally friendly because they don’t contain toxic materials such as Cadmium or Mercury. Clearly there are many different options, and many different pluses and minuses for each battery type.
Even though newer battery types may not have the memory problems, all batteries may wear out eventually after repeated recharging. There is a third type of rechargeable battery, Lithium Ion that is gaining rapid popularity. The distinct advantage of a Lithium Ion battery is, it offers better performance than the other two types. But the disadvantage is that they do not come in the standard AA battery size.
