Steambot Chronicles: Battle Tournament review

The latest arena style combat game by Atlus and Irem released on June 30 for PSP platform. The game provided astonishing display of combat gameplay that had never been seen on PSP before. The best features of the game are its charm and extent of customization. The controls of the game are a little difficult to grasp in a minute. But, once you get hold of things, you will surely enjoy the game.

In the game, you are free to roam the town of Orion City and peripherals. Once the initial training missions are over, you can leave the town any time and wander outside. The game can get extremely annoying as the actions get repetitive from time-to-time. The storyline of the game is all about the residents and events in the Orion City. From the first impression, the gameplay looks pretty straight-forward with no complexity in characters, missions and environments.

The game features a unique Arena Combat mode which has decent variation in objects around you and locales. As the game progresses, you will unlock special abilities and increasingly difficult combat classes. The missions you take up get you hit points, upgrades and fame. You are bound to a rank scheme and upgrade cycle which is connected to your performance in the arena battles.

While the game is not a technical masterpiece or graphically outstanding, the unique features in gameplay and decent soundtracks make the game worth a try.
